A long-awaited revised Crane & Derricks Standard is set to go into effect this year! The revised standard will comprehensively address key hazards related to cranes and derricks on construction worksites, including the four main causes of worker death and injury: electrocution, crushed by parts of the equipment, struck-by the equipment/load, and falls.

Those of you who attended the Oakland Chamber of Commerce's monthly Inside Oakland Breakfast Forum last week learned about the city of Oakland's $2 billion unfunded pension and retiree health care costs. This is a case where the plaintiffs argued that the trial court needed to explain its award of attorney’s fees to show that there was a reasonable basis for them.  The plaintiffs also argued that the trial court did not award them enough attorney’s fees and costs against their former general contractor. 

Tassajara Development Corporation (the contractor) entered into a written contract to become the general contractor for a residential construction for the plaintiffs Gorman & Cheng (husband and wife).
