State Compensation Insurance Fund: Back In The Game?

Sure looks like it.  Let’s review this more closely.

The Past

In 2010 State Fund had a leading position in CA Workers’ Comp market share of 16.02%.*.  Acceptable.

In 2011 that market share dropped to 12.91%.* Not good – a reduction of 20% of their piece of the pie.

In 2012 that market share dropped further to only 10.03 %.* Time for drastic action!

The legislature has adjourned for summer recess and will return in August for the final one-month stretch before completing the first year of the 2013-14 legislative session. The final weeks of the legislative year will primarily focus on the Appropriations Committee(s) and floor sessions where surviving legislation will be sent to the Governor for final consideration.

CSLB Zero Tolerance Policy In Effect for Non-Compliant Electricians


SACRAMENTO - The Contractors State License Board (CSLB) established a zero-tolerance enforcement policy in 2010 and now issues legal action against any C-10 Electrical contractor who willfully employs an uncertified electrician to perform work as an electrician.

CSLB is legally required to open an investigation and initiate disciplinary action against the contractor (which may include license suspension or revocation) within 60 days of receipt of a referral or complaint from the Department of Industrial Relations’ Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS).
