Attention Plan Room Users - Chrome No Longer Supports 64 Bit Java

We have been informed that Chrome is no longer supporting the 64 bit version of Java. For now, there is a work around to fix the issue, but we are being told that the ‘flags’ used to override this setting may not be available to end users in Chrome at some point in the future. Having said that the temporary fix for users wanting to ‘View Project Docs java’ in Chrome is as follows:

 

1.       In your URL bar, enter:

chrome://flags/#enable-npapi 

2.       Click the Enable link for the Enable NPAPI configuration option.

3.       Click the Relaunch button that now appears at the bottom of the configuration page.

 

The good news is that the 2.0 site does not have Java dependency. The document viewer is HTML based, there is a download and convert to pdf feature within it. The file downloader in 2.0 is also not dependent on Java. We considered launching these tools in the 1.0 site to mitigate the Java issues. But due to the print order and other tools built into the HTML viewer, we thought development time was better spent moving 2.0 forward. We are working very hard to make sure the new platform is stable, and ironing out the bugs to launch it as soon as possible.
