Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update:
Effective August 3, 2021, health officers in seven Bay Area counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Sonoma) and the city of Berkeley issued an order requiring the use of face coverings indoors by all persons regardless of vaccination status. A full copy of the order can be found here. All businesses must post a sign advising customers of the new order.
Coronavirus Herd Immunity is Within Reach For Bay Area
from Eden Health District, June 28, 2021
About 80% of adult Bay Area residents have detectable antibodies to the COVID-19 virus, up from about 70% a month ago, suggesting that the region is edging towards herd immunity - increased safety due to very low levels of viral transmission.
Statewide, immunity is not much lower, at 76.6%, according to an analysis presented by state epidemiologist Dr. Erica Pan on Wednesday. That, too, represents improvement.
