President Donald Trump’s team has compiled a list of about 50 infrastructure projects nationwide, totaling at least $137.5 billion (public-private partnerships, with half the money coming from private investment).
The preliminary list, provided to the National Governor’s Association by the Trump transition team, offers a first glimpse at which projects around the country might get funding if Trump follows through on his campaign promise to renew America’s crumbling highways, airports, dams and bridges.
Please allow me to draw your attention to the only two projects that are being proposed in California (of course, Southern California).
Cadiz Water Conveyance Project in California’s Mojave Desert
The Cadiz Valley Water Conservation, Recovery and Storage Project is designed to capture and conserve billions of gallons of renewable native groundwater flowing beneath Cadiz-controlled property in California’s Mojave Desert that is currently being lost to evaporation and salt contamination at nearby dry lakes.
· Cost: $250 Million
· Jobs: 5,900 direct jobs
· Engineering – done
· Permitting - 95%
· Funding – private
TransWest Express Transmission
The TransWest Express Transmission Project is a high-voltage, direct current regional electric transmission system proposed by TransWest Express LLC. The TWE Project will reliably deliver cost-effective renewable energy produced in Wyoming to the Desert Southwest region (California, Nevada, Arizona).
· Cost: $3 billion
· Jobs: 3,000 direct jobs; indirect 4,000
· Engineering – done
· Permitting - 95%
· Funding – private
