The League of California Cities is looking for one board member and one alternate board member for the State Historical Buildings Safety Board (SHBSB).

What is SHBSB? The SHBSB provides regulations and standards for the rehabilitation, preservation, restoration (including related reconstruction) or relocation as applicable to all historical buildings, structures and properties deemed of importance. Visit: SHBSB website for more details.

SHBSB Board Member Duties: The Board’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to) advancing regulations and hearing and voting on appeals. Visit: SHBSB website for more details.

Meetings: SHBSB hosts in-person meetings in Sacramento (virtual attendance might be an option). SHSBS will assist in travel arrangements and reimbursements.

Representative: It will be helpful if candidates have knowledge of historical state and federal building codes and an appreciation for preserving and restoring California’s historical architecture.
