Courtesey of CEA's (California Employer Association) HR Advisor Team on Wednesday, June 28, 2017

While the State’s minimum wage is not increasing for California until January of 2018, a number of other cities and counties have local ordinances that mandate increases on July 1, 2017. If your employees work in any of these areas, at least two (2) or more hours per week, you need to know the applicable minimum wage. Check out CEA’s Minimum Wage and Paid Sick Leave Fact Sheet for a summary of all minimum wages throughout the state, including local ordinances with July 1, 2017 increases – or call us and an HR Advisor will assist you!

The following municipalities have a new minimum wage effective July 1, 2017:

Emeryville         $14.00 for 55 or fewer employees, $15.20 for 56 or more employees

Los Angeles (City)    $10.50 for 25 or fewer employees, $12.00 for 26 or more employees

Los Angeles (County)    $10.50 for 25 or fewer employees, $12.00 for 26 or more employees

Milpitas        $11.00 for all

Pasadena         $10.50 for 25 or fewer employees, $12.00 for 26 or more employees

San Francisco        $14.00 for all

San Jose       $12.00 for all

San Leandro        $12.00 for all

Santa Monica        $10.50 for 25 or fewer employees, $12.00 for 26 or more employees

Santa Monica Hotels    $15.66 for all

You can purchase the up-to-date, laminated minimum wage posters for all municipalities, or download them on your own, through the CEA Store. And, for you planners out there, Berkeley’s minimum wage will increase from $12.53 per hour to $13.75 per hour on October 1, 2017. More information is available on the City’s web site.
