On August 9, 2010, Federal OSHA issued a Federal Final Rule revising the Cranes and Derricks Standard and related sections found primarily in the Federal Construction Standard, 29 CFR Part 1926, to update and specify industry work practices necessary to protect employees during the use of cranes and derricks in construction.

In response to this Federal Final Rule, the California Standards Board intends to adopt language at least as effective as the Federal Standard.A notice will be published in the California Regulatory Notice Register on December 17, 2010, and a public hearing will be held on January, 2011, in San Diego, California.

The proposed adoption date will be February 17, 2011, in Oakland, California. This schedule is in accordance with the time frames in which the Standards Board is expected to act after the adoption of a Federal Final Rule.
