Message to contractors – The early registration and renewal sign up is now open! You can now register or renew your Public Works Contractor Registration for the next fiscal year, which starts July 1, 2025.
The 2025-2026 fiscal year begins July 1, 2025. Contractors will need to register or renew their Public Works Contractors Registration number for the new fiscal year prior to July 1, 2025.
Who needs to register?
- Registration or renewal is required for each fiscal year (July 1st – June 30th). Contractors can register or renew their registration up to three (3) years in advance. Early registration is encouraged so that businesses can continue working on public work projects without interruption. The registration fee is $400 per fiscal year.
Why is it important to register?
- The Labor Commissioner temporarily paused enforcement of the contractor registration requirement to submit electronic certified payroll records (eCPRs) to the Labor Commissioner using DIR’s online eCPR system from June 22, 2024 through June 22, 2025.
- The Labor Commissioner’s Office will resume enforcement of these requirements beginning June 23, 2025. Once the stay of enforcement is lifted, contractors will not be required to retroactively submit eCPRs nor will they be required to retroactively register but contractors will be required to submit eCPRs and register moving forward.
What is required?
- In addition to registering, contractors are required to electronically submit certified payroll records to the public works online system at https://services.dir.ca.gov/gsp. Registration and log-in are located at the top right corner of the webpage.
